Who we are

Our mission

Founded in 1781, Misión San Miguel is the oldest church in the valley: hand-raised adobe walls, a bell that has rung for ten generations, and a courtyard where fiesta and faith have never been separated. We pray in Spanish and in English, we sing with mariachi and with organ, and there is always room at the table.

Through the years

Our History

Franciscans founded the mission beside the river in 1781. The present church of adobe and pine vigas was finished in 1804 and restored by the parishioners themselves in 1978, brick by brick. The image of Our Lady of Guadalupe above the altar came from Mexico by mule.
